Football Friday fever seems to be spreading all around local schools, where some learning hours have been devoted to soccer.

DD Siwisa Primary held a mini-soccer tournament on Friday where Grades 1 to 3 classes adopted the names of the different nations who will be competing in the Fifa Soccer World Cup.

Supported by both the department of Education and the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture. The programme aims at getting the school together with the community through the love of soccer.

“We would like the small pupils to get to know that they too are South African and when the Soccer World Cup arrives they too should feel that they are part of it,” said principal Zolani Gosani.

The proud Gosani said that with the programme, the school wishes to show its support to the national squad. Results: Grade 1A and B adopted Brazil and Spain, Grade 2A and B were England and Italy and Grade 3A and B were France and South Africa.

Brazil beat Spain by 4-3, while Italy got defeated by England by 2- 1 and in the last game Bafana Bafana lost to France by a single goal.
