Acoustic soul group, J’Something performed for a packed Drill Hall audience in Grahamstown recently. The J’Something concert took place in Grahamstown to promote a national tour coming up in July when the band
will travel around South Africa focusing on getting their their music to universities and schools.

J’Something features former Graeme College pupil Joao Fonseca who is signed up with Soul Candi in Johannesburg to release a debut album in July.

Fonseca said the local concert was “extremely well attended”, adding that it was a sold out “with people standing at the back and in the entrance”.

Fonseca said it was a “special night for me as my time in Grahamstown was a pivotal, if not the most pivotal point in my life”. The band also consists of Gary and Dwayne Ford who are former St Andrew’s College pupils and BJ Ford “who is a local legend,” said Fonseca.

“To get the support we did during a period where we knew students would be busy studying for exams was a blessing.

And I really trust that the night touched and spoke to everyone that attended.” Fonseca calls himself a “messenger… an announcer… an illustrator… an interpreter… expressor of the heart of God.” “How do I share what I feel and stand for?

By soulfully declaring over a microphone backed up by a stringed instrument, I’m a 21st century David, and no compromise is not a phrase that sounds good, it’s a life motto,” Fonseca emphasises.

“A big thanks goes out to Deon and Ed for making the concert the show it was. And J’Something would like to thank everyone that came out on the night.

We are all certainly looking forward to jamming in our local town again. See you all at Festival!” For more details visit Facebook and/ or Myspace.com/jsomethingmusic
