An EPRU Wellman Haremse Super League clash, between Easterns and Swallows, took place on Saturday. Easterns, who have been in the league for eight years, were the first to draw blood through a penalty kick by flyhalf Phumalni “Fish” Khongwane.

Eight minutes later Swallows replied with a try by center Marquin Hendriks. Again Easterns came back for more and were rewarded another penalty by Phumlani.
Swallows fullback David Goliath crossed the line to score a try for his side. Not long after, Unathi Khongwane scored for Easterns. making it 12–16 to Easterns.
Just before halftime Swallows left wing Glenville Lewis cut through the Easterns defence and passed to lock forward Lucas Wendell who scored, taking the half time score to 22–16 in Swallows’ favour.
In the second half tables were looking to turn as Phumlani managed to covert three penalties and a drop kick. In the dying minutes Swallows squeezed in to score an unconverted try.
The game proved to be equally contested by both teams as the final score ended Swallows 27–28 Easterns. Swallows coach Phillip Oerson says “There is still room for improvement.
We are taking it game by game.” Eastern’s Manager Mzukisi Mali says “Our boys played well and they sustained a lot of pressure.
Our aim is to win as much games as we can so we can progress to the Adam’s Cup.” Other results: Swallows 1st reserves 17–7 Easterns Swallows 2nds 28–0 Easterns.
