Grahamstown is characterised both by educational excellence and the serious problems endemic to
    South African education.

The page you are reading called Ukufunda (meaning both ‘read’ and ‘learn’ in isiXhosa) – aims to raise awareness about educational initiatives in the city and create a platform for all people interested in literacy and education to share information and fi nd support.

The page will appear every Tuesday in Grocott’s Mail and we hope it will contribute to greater involvement by the citizenry in improving educational services in our city.

If you would like to contribute to Ukufunda in any way please contact one of the three editors listed
