Local football club, United Fighters, were given a boost recently when they were sponsored a full soccer kit.
As part of their corporate social investment strategy aimed at the development of healthier lifestyles among South Africans, Bonitas Medical Fund have embarked on a national campaign where 500 soccer kits are to be donated to amateur teams countrywide.

As part of their corporate social investment strategy aimed at the development of healthier lifestyles among South Africans, Bonitas Medical Fund have embarked on a national campaign where 500 soccer kits are to be donated to amateur teams countrywide.
Bonitas Medical Fund has a long-standing commitment in improving lives of South Africans through their participation in sporting activities.
The fund is also the main sponsor of Free State Stars, a football club in the Premier Soccer League. The campaign has been running since 2009 and the provinces that have benefited from this initiative are Western Cape, North West and Free State.
“The intention of the soccer kits donation campaign is to touch the lives of, and to engage with current and potential members who are proactively participating in an activity that helps to keep them healthy,” says Matseleng Mfeka, Marketing General Manager at Bonitas.
The fund has gone even further to grass root level to develop young talent. Temptations, Motherwell, All Stars, Manchester United, United Fighters, Twenty Seven Attackers, Young Pioneers and Tiger Boys football clubs have been selected as commendable recipients of the soccer kits in the Eastern Cape.
The teams’ training is not limited to building soccer skills, as these teams are also taught life skills such as respect, commitment, dedication and values.
By encouraging ethical and honest behaviour, Bonitas strives to help these players to grow into adults who bring change to the youth in their community and so the cycle of good is reinforced from early on.
“There is inherent talent to be found in these communities and through the donation of these soccer kits, Bonitas is playing a role in supporting their safe haven away from home; building their feeling of belonging to a brotherhood and most importantly, helping the young stars to be seen for the upstanding young men of the Eastern Cape community that they are and the potential footballs stars they could become,” Mfeka concluded.
