Nandos Grahamstown gave no warning before they closed their doors for the last time in late October last year.

Apparently this was a result of a strike because workers were not being paid their deserved salaries and the franchisee quitting his job.

Now Nandos is trying to sell its franchise to a new franchisee, and reopening at the same premises.  Nandos has “noted public concerns and queries over the recent closing down” according to a Nandos press release.

It reads further that “Nandos is in the process of looking for a new franchisee to take over the business”. The restaurant is fully furbished and only awaiting someone to get it running.

Developments are slow at the moment but it seems as though the return of Nandos in  Grahamstown is a much anticipated event.

Grahamstown resident, Musawenkosi Tshabalala says that Nandos should reopen because there needs to be more options in the food available for sale, "it cannot always be KFC," he says.

Another Grahamstown local, Jethro Solomon says "I love Nandos, they must hurry up and reopen." Solomon is not the only one that feels strongly about the reopening of Nandos, except that  Stephen Drennan feels that Nandos should not reopen, because "it is the wrong place to open, there was  never enough foot traffic for Nandos here in the first place."

It is not yet known whether the issue that allegedly caused the sudden closing of Nandos has been resolved, but it seems as though if all things go well in finding a  new franchisee, nothing can be done to stop Nandos from opening its doors to the public again.
