Vets tennis tournament

The annual vets tennis tournament takes place this weekend, with all matches played at the DSG tennis courts.

There will be a welcoming party tonight with tennis starting at 8.30am tomorrow and continuing throughout the day.

More tennis will be played on Sunday morning with the prizegiving scheduled for the end of play which will be around 1pm.

There will be a welcoming party tonight with tennis starting at 8.30am tomorrow and continuing throughout the day.

More tennis will be played on Sunday morning with the prizegiving scheduled for the end of play which will be around 1pm.

The teams taking part in this year’s event are: Ray’s Wrecks: Cindy Taylor, Graham Jekels, Gill van Niekerk, Johan van Rooyen, Angie Visser, Ray Mandy (captain), Carol Brink  and Peter Brink.

Lynn’s Legends: Denise Matthews, Noel Harvey, Lynn Pelle (captain), Ron Endley, Pat Wilcox, Keith Murcott, Strelza Schuman and Eckardt Schuman.

Kenton Cavaliers: Greta Delport, Gary Loader (captain), Lynn Rielly, Malcolm White, Shelley Holtzhausen, Lance Loest, Heather  Barnes-Webb and Billy Kehl.

Grahamstown Greats Di Smuts, Bomber Kent, Jayne Turner, Pete Ellis (captain), Sheryl Emslie, Mango  Nkwinti, Morny le Roux, Ian Rudman.

Bedford Beauties: Jenny Hohman, Ron Barnes–Webb, Marta Pickard, Mike Sherren, Fran Gradwell, Hugh Collett, Pat Proud and Will Pringle (captain).

Graaff–Reinet Grafters: Yvonne Bruhweiler, James Luscombe, Mary-Rose Snelgar (captain), Pat Grewar, Marta Griffiths, Louis van der Merwe, Carina Luscombe and Arthur Short.

Central Albany Antiques Alke Bradfield, Danie Bouwer, Linda Holloway, Gavin Dixon, Mariaan Green, Terry Radue, Shirley Robinson, Cuan King and George Holloway  (non-playing captain/manager).
