The Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Derek Hanekom will deliver a keynote address at the opening ceremony of Scifest Africa at the Guy Butler Theatre at 6.30pm this evening.

Coordinated by the Grahamstown Foundation, SciFest Africa is an annual, national science festival that seeks to promote a culture of science and technology in a festive way.

The planned activities planned for have been organised with the intention of addressing misconceptions and creating a new mindset about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (ST EM).

The approach adopted by Scifest Africa is seen as another way of making ST EM accessible and interesting to the learners.

Fun-filled lectures, workshops, exhibitions and competitions are some of the activities that learners and educators have come to expect and enjoy from this event.
