It was an exciting day for some learners at Nathaniel Nyaluza Secondary school after they wrote the National Science Olympiad (NSO) test on the 4th of March 2010.

NSO is a national competition for Grade 10& 11 Physical and Natural science learners. Prizes for learners include desktop computers, lab equipment, iPods, book vouchers and a trip to attend the International Youth Science Forum in London while the schools could win lab equipment, Smart Interactive White Boards and Justik Boards!

Some of the competition entrants were already celebrating after writing the test saying that they, “have passed and they won’t miss a chance to position Nyaluza as the best school in Grahamstown.”

Some learners struggled to finish the 3 hours test, but some learners finished in less than 2 hours. Mr. Snyders the science teacher said “It doesn’t matter how smart or talented you are, to take control of any test you need to read.”

Mr Mbuyiselo Fani the Physical Science teacher and school principal, Mr Mangaliso Nkwinti wished everyone who took part in the test to pass.
