Three cars were involved in an accident early Tuesday morning, causing a major traffic jam on the N2 between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown.

PE Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge reported that the drivers suffered slight injuries. “There may be a charge of negligent driving,” he said.

Meanwhile, Duane Knoetze a motorist who was delayed in the back-up, saw the three cars a BMW, a Nissan bakkie and a VW Polo which were involved in the accident.

“They all just drove into each other,” he said. Traffic was backed up mostly between Port Elizabeth and the Kinkelbos area, where the accident took place.
