Willows Cricket Club, one of the Grahamstown cricket clubs which is part of the Grahamstown Cricket Board 2009/2010 first league, beat Sidbury Cricket club by 188 runs at Sidbury on Saturday.

The pick of the batsmen for Willows was Chesley Daniels who made 56, while Lucius Jordaan was their star bowler, taking eight wickets for 19 runs. Willows won the toss and elected to bat under very hot conditions.

They went on to make 237 all out in 47.4 overs. Daniels made a good return to the Willows side after moving from Grahamstown two years ago. Monray Evans made 38, while captain Jordaan contributed with 23. Left arm seamer Jordaan worked through the Sidbury batsmen taking eight wickets, two of which were off the first four balls of the match.

Sidbury were bowled out for 49 runs in 15.1 overs due to some good bowling by the Willows side, which has many young members, including 14-year-old Cole Wessels who took one wicket.

Willows ends the season with a derby encounter against Makana Sona on Saturday at the Albany Sports Club.
