Talented pianist, Charl du Plessis, and his accompanying ‘boy band’ of five superb string players will bring the hit show The Piano Man to Grahamstown on Saturday, 30 January at 8pm at the Guy Butler Theatre.

In celebration of 300 years of the piano and held as a fundraiser for Somerset Place Retirement and Frail Care Centre, Du Plessis’s programme features a wide variety of styles ranging from Mozart to Chick Corea, from Duke Ellington to Gershwin, Billy Joel and Elton John.

Du Plessis, described as one of the most talented pianists in the country, studied classical piano with Joseph Stanford at the University of Pretoria and made his recital début in America and Switzerland in 1999.

He is a regular performer at major national music festivals and a pianist for South African entertainer Nataniël. Bookings for the performance can be made through Computicket and at R70 a head you can end the first month of 2010 on a high note.
