Swaziland-based gospel artist Mduduzi Simelane was in Grahamstown earlier this week promoting his latest album as well as his upcoming South African tour.
Simply known as Mduduzi, Simelane recently released his fourth album featuring the group Izinceku Zamagawugawu entitled Incobile Ingwenyama (the Lion of Judah has won) and so far it has sold over 35 000 copies. The teacher and pastor started singing in 1997 and says that the album was released under his new record label Umlilo Music Production.
He describes the album as a “life-changing CD of worship and praise songs based on the Bible”. He sees being a gospel musician as a calling and has realised that he reaches more souls when he preaches the word of God through song.
He has performed in Port Elizabeth a couple of times before and believes that he has established a fan base in the Eastern Cape. After receiving a lot of airplay on uMhlobo Wenene FM and other community radio stations he appeared on the Sunday evening gospel show Gospel Times hosted by Rebecca Malope on SABC 2.
Mduduzi Nezinceku Zamagawugawu will perform in Grahamstown on 7 March at the City Hall from 12 noon to 6pm and the tickets will be sold for R50. “People should expect a miracle and fulfillment at the concerts, it is a place where God will answer prayers,” he said.
Although this will be his first performance in Grahamstown he encourages gospel music lovers to come to this must-see concert and prepare to be revived.
