    Catch night bowls three nights a week

    The annual night bowls competition gets underway on Monday at the Grahamstown Bowling Club. The Pepper Grove Pick n Pay inter- company Night Bowls League will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings over the next five weeks with possible Thursday evenings in case of bad weather.

    The annual night bowls competition gets underway on Monday at the Grahamstown Bowling Club. The Pepper Grove Pick n Pay inter- company Night Bowls League will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings over the next five weeks with possible Thursday evenings in case of bad weather.

    There are currently ten full sections in the league, with each section made up of six teams. Each evenings play will start at 6.30pm, and there will be refreshments on sale to spectators and participants.

    The finals of the league are scheduled to take place on 5 March. June McDougall of the night bowls committee said they still have a few places available and anyone interested in still taking part should contact her as soon as possible on 083 376 4175.

    The teams taking part in the various sections are: Section 1 PGP, Whiteleys/PSG, Tip Top butchery, Bright Sparks, Nolte Smit Attorneys, First City.

    Section 2 Bob’s Cabinets, Pick n Pay, Masons, Penny Pinchers, Makana Brick A, Noggie’s Team. Section 3 Taps Inc, Ant Counters, In Mates, Remax Rollers, Makana Brick B, On Bended Knee.

    Section 4 IT Harddrivers, A N White, FNB 1, Intertown Transport, Makana Brick C, Reg Rats 2. Section 5 GBS Mutual Bank, Leopards, FNB 2, Strikers, The Wolf pack, SAPS A.

    Section 6 Carara, Kenrich, Bowling Stones, Raffriders, Gtn Elec, SAPS B. Section 7 Carara Invitational, Fizix, Madhatters, Road Sultans, MAWAS, Four Seasons.

    Section 8 Operation Rats, Market Square VW, 4 Castles, Videotronic, Padbouers, Inkspot. Section 9 Sure Go Travel, Dixie Chicks, Reg Rats, D & A Timbers, Pheasant Pluckers, SAPS women.

    Section 10 Aloe Ferox, Oracle ITS, Ampath, HKE Racing Snakes, Rock Soc, Little Devils.
