One person died and four were injured when a bus collided with a white Golf outside Seven Fountains last Thursday night.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Sherolene Williams said the bus was travelling to Port Elizabeth while the other vehicle was travelling to Grahamstown. The occupant of the Golf died on the scene and the car was damaged beyond repair.

Investigating officer for the case, Sergeant Vuyisani Mandla said the car is in Grahamstown awaiting forensic tests to determine roadworthiness. The bus was towed to Port Elizabeth and is also awaiting tests.

Mandla said a breathalyser test conducted on the bus driver came back negative. A case of culpable homicide has been opened and police are still investigating.
