Entries for the 2010 Comrades Marathon have been closed. Entries for novice Comrades runners opened on 1 November at 9am and within 27 hours the CMA received the targeted 5 000 entries for novice runners.
“As a result entries for the 2010 Comrades Marathon is now officially closed,” said Craig Fry of Comrades Marathon Media & Communications.

“As a result entries for the 2010 Comrades Marathon is now officially closed,” said Craig Fry of Comrades Marathon Media & Communications.
Any novice runner who posted their entry by close of business on 2 November, will still be accepted.
The CMA will be processing all entries over the next couple of weeks and a final entry figure will be released upon completion.
The total number of entries could well be in excess of 20 000 runners since postal entries will take approximately 10 working days to arrive at the CMA offices.
Subsequent to entries closing the CMA has had numerous enquiries from athletes regarding the entry process.
Final confirmation for those who have entered can take anything from a week to ten days as every single entry is verified and manually entered for administrative purposes.
“The CMA is aware of the fact that hundreds of runners failed to enter in time and as a result have now missed out on the opportunity to run The Ultimate Human Race in 2010, we understand their frustration at missing out on this great event.
However, over the last five months the CMA has utilised every possible media and public platform to communicate the entry criteria and closing dates/cut-off dates to athletes, both in South Africa and abroad, to ensure that every serious Comrades runner submit their entry on time.”
