The St Andrew’s College 1st cricket team beat Woodridge College by two wickets in an inter schools cricket match on Saturday.

The St Andrew’s side lost the toss and fielded first. Ntsiki Mlamleli, on debut, bowled very well up front taking three wickets for 22 runs in his ten overs. Many of the other bowlers did not take full advantage of the pitch but Ryan Dugmore and Paul Hofman bowled well together with Dugmore taking three wickets for 26 in ten overs and Hofman 1 for 26 in 10 overs. Woodridge ended their innings on a total of 142 all out.

After lunch, St Andrew’s headed in to bat knowing that there was still plenty of work to do with the pitch still offering assistance to the bowlers. With a few quick wickets up front, St Andrew’s found themselves in trouble at 102/8 with Johnny Ford joined by Philip De La Fargue. They both batted patiently to put on a 41 run partnership. With St Andrew’s needing 15 runs off 5 overs, the pressure was still on, but Johnny Ford hit the winning runs to give St Andrew’s an unconvincing win by two wickets.
