The Rhodes University Athletics Club held its annual awards dinner on Saturday evening. The club also announced its new committee, which was voted in at the AGM the previous evening.

Warrick Smith was awarded the Performance of the Year trophy, for his time of 1 hour 18 minutes 5 seconds for the Two Oceans half marathon.

Warrick Smith was awarded the Performance of the Year trophy, for his time of 1 hour 18 minutes 5 seconds for the Two Oceans half marathon.

The women’s Road Runner of the Year award was shared between Kate Selwood and Natalie Ross.
All the award winners for the year:
Performance of the Year – Warrick Smith
Road Runner of the Year (women) – Kate Selwood and Natalie Ross
Road Runner of the Year (Men) No Award
Track Athlete of the Year – No Award
Triathlete of the Year – Sean Swanepoel
Most Dedicated Athlete – Gen Train
Most Improved Athlete – Sean Swanepoel
Most Enthusiastic Athlete – Caroline Ross
Best First Year – Natalie Ross
Newcomer of the Year – Michael Dives
Fleetest Foot, for the fastets combined 4km and 8km time trial, men – Warrick Smith (44:12) and women – Natalie Ross (51:26).
Toughest Foot, for most mileage in races, women – Kate Selwood (470.6km) and Curtis Sahd (193.4km).
Sports Administration Awards :
Half Colours – Sean Swanepoel, Natalie Ross and  Caroline Ross
Team Award – Sean Swanepoel
Admin Awards – Michael Irwin, Kate Selwood, Megan Cunnama ,Warrick Smith and Daniel Hewson
The new Athletics Club Committee is:
Chairman – Sean Swanepoel
President – Michael Irwin
Road Running – Warrick Smith
Triathlon – Natalie Ross
Track – Zane Watkins
Media – Caroline Ross
Development – Lahja Ndjalo
Secretary – Lester Sigauke
The Treasurer/Transport position will be re-advertised early next year.
