Fingo Village is currently undergoing major construction which includes paving, pavements, traffic lights and new street light.

Khula Nathi from East London has been contracted to complete the project and they are currently working on the Raglan Albert Roads intersection. Once the paving in this intersection is complete, a set of traffic lights will be installed and, according to Willie van Jaarsveld (the site agent) the lights should be switched on by the end of October. The paving will run on for about 100m from Raglan Road into Albert Road from either side, and 300m either side of Raglan Road from the intersection. The tarred pavement will stretch from the Victoria Road side of Albert Road along a 6km stretch.
Over 570 trees will also be planted along the paved and sidewalk areas, while two taxi bays with shelters will be erected in Raglan Road.
Van Jaarsveld said they have been able to offer jobs to many Grahamstown residents, with about 100 labourers and three sub-contractors working on the site throughout the contract.
A total of 32 street lights will be placed in Raglan Road, Albert Road and Mandela Street. While a number of these lights are already up in Raglan Road, van Jaarsveld said the remainder should be up and switched on by the end of October.
