James Stirk, who scored a fine century in the first game, continued in great form as he again led the Kingswood batting lineup with 86 after St Andrew’s won the toss and put Kingswood in to bat.

James Stirk, who scored a fine century in the first game, continued in great form as he again led the Kingswood batting lineup with 86 after St Andrew’s won the toss and put Kingswood in to bat.
The pitch offered little assistance to the bowlers and Kingswood were able to build good partnerships. Stirk and Kyle Illman (55) managed to put on 120 runs for the second wicket, which laid the platform for the innings.
John Hale finished the innings well for Kingswood with a quick 29. Paul Hoffman was the pick of the St Andrew’s bowlers as he ended with 3/42.
The St Andrew’s attack bowled well, but an uncharacteristic poor fielding performance helped Kingswood accumulate a challenging target of 227 for 8 in their 50 overs.
St Andrew’s lost their way in the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals and were never able to put together a substantial partnership.
Two needless runouts were ultimately the turning point in the game and Kingswood won by 42 runs, as St Andrews were bowled out for 185.
Jaco Delport was the mainstay of the batting lineup with a solid performance, scoring 49. Richard O’Mohany (33 not out) was stranded as he ran out of partners, after batting flawlessly in the latter half of the innings.
For Kingswood, Greg Evans (3 for 34) and John Hale (3 for 33) bowled well in conditions which suited the Kingswood attack.
Earlier in the week, James Stirk put together another man-of-the-match performance, as Kingswood beat Somerset College by two wickets.
Stirk (94 not out) put on a 108 run partnership with Greg Evans (50) as Kingswood chased down 221 for victory. Earlier, Somerset had batted to get to 220.For Kingswood, Greg Evans did most of the damage as he ended with 3 for 28 in his 10 overs.
