South African artist, Cher van Schouwen, who now resides in Western Australia will be visiting the Eastern Cape where she will be auctioning her latest collection entitled Art with Vision. The auction will take place on 31 December at Oceana Beach & Wildlife Reserve, a five minute drive from her former home town of Port Alfred.

Over the years, Van Schouwen has been invited to exhibit her collections in London, South Africa, New Zealand, United States and Australia. Her work graces the walls of restaurants, yachts and private homes all over the world.

The exhibition is dedicated to a close family friend, Peggy Norton, who was like a grandmother to her during her youth. Norton lives in Tarkastad in the vicinity of iThemba Trust Community School.

iThemba Trust is named after the Xhosa word meaning ‘hope’ and is a non-profit organisation supported by Rip and Lee Anne Miller, the Texan owners of Oceana Beach & Wildlife Reserve. The artist will donate the sales of one painting plus 30% of all sales that evening towards the trust for the education of underprivileged and previously disadvantaged children based in Tarkastad and surrounds.

Van Schouw’s passion for living life consciously transcends canvas, and her paintings have become the glue that connects people, charities and places the world over.

“I have focused on paintings that speak to me only of hope, light and love, a communication that I hope to convey between art, artist and viewer alike and the ideal message to start the New Year.”

This New Year’s Eve promises to be a celebration of life, complimented with champagne, fine food and fireworks. Entry fee is R400 per person.
