Fashion aficionados are in for a veritable feast with Sunflower Hospice Shop hosting the Charity Cases fashion show at Victoria Girls’ High School. The show will display a collection of vintage and retro outfits, all assembled from donated items of clothing from the Hospice shop itself.

Petra Pretorius, who runs The Sunflower Hospice Shop, has been preparing for this event for some time now, by keeping aside vintage and one-of-a-kind finds for the show. “I’ve picked all the clothing out from what has been donated to the shop over the last year,” she said.

Together with her wardrobe manager Angelina Banda, Pretorius has compiled several different lines to be exhibited at the show ranging from casual to evening wear.

Shoot photographer Amirah Tajdin expects the evening to be “filled with colour, old school chic and some of the best songs this side of the Karoo, courtesy of DJs Fork and Naruto. Glamour and fun hasn‘t seen a better combination.”

All proceeds from the evening will be used to provide free assistance to those who are terminally ill as well as their families. “We don’t just help individuals, the whole community must be supported. We have our own palliative care ward and a separate one that’s just for children,”said Pretorius.

The evening will be rounded off with the Cushioned Caffeine after party at Slip Stream Sports Bar which will also be sticking to the vintage theme in terms of vibe and music. “I want to thank not only those who have worked on the event and our kind sponsors, but also the Grahamstown community for making this all possible, for donating clothes and supporting our shop” said Pretorius.

Tickets are available at the door as well as at Slip Stream and Grocott’s Mail.
