Grahamstown Brumbies played against Spring Rose rugby club in Uitenhage last Saturday. The match was a promotion relegation match for the Super League Grand Challenge and Adams Cup leagues.

During the first half of the game, Spring Rose had taken three penalties. Brumbies’ Christopher Mqubuli scored the first try which was converted by Vincent Mains while Rivan Fillif took another try which was converted by Shanton Whiteboy.

Eugene Jansen made a third try but was not converted. Before the break, Brumbies were leading 19-9.During the second half, Spring Rose scored two tries- one of which was converted to a penalty.

Brumbies had plenty of chances but couldn’t capitalise on them, leading to a win of 24-19 for Spring Rose. The Brumbies will play in the Adams Cup league for the next season.

Brumbies manager, Guilliano Flotman said, "as much as we did not win, the match was played in good spirit and we worked hard for it."
