Nosifundo Fabana, a member of the African Connections women’s soccer team in Grahamstown, has been selected for the Eastern Cape’s U19 women’s soccer team.

The Eastern Cape team will come up against other provinces in the Absa U19 provincial girl’s tournament which takes place in Pretoria from 9 to 16 August.

Fabana was one of four Grahamstown girls who represented Cacadu at the Eastern Cape U19 soccer trials recently. A team was then selected from these trials to represent the Eastern Cape at the provincial event.

Chris Totobela, Cacadu team manager and African Connections coach, said Fabana played very well at the trials and he expected her to be selected for the Eastern Cape side.

Fabana has been a member of African Connections for two years, and Totobela says that while she was talented when she joined the women’s side, she has improved over the years.

A national U19 side will be selected after the provincial tournament.
