Local athlete Thembinkosi "Teabag" Mdyogolo competed in the Nedbank Soweto Marathon on 1 November. Mdyogolo had received a sponsorship from the municipality’s Special Programmes Unit to travel to Johannesburg to compete at the event, which also covered his accomodation.

The strong winds in October which left nine houses without roofs and uprooted trees has cost the municipality more than R4 700 worth of damage. This was revealed in a damage report which was tabled in front of the Makana council’s social services portfolio committee this week. On 26 October a strong wind blew roofs off houses and nine households were affected.
