Six schools took part in the inaugural U14 water polo festival hosted by the Diocesan School for Girls last Saturday.
“This is the first year we have tried something like this and hope to make it an annual event and to work on greater distribution of teams’ strengths in order to allow the U14 water polo teams to gain more match and festival exposure,” said DSG sports director Pamela Bowren.
All teams played against one another in a round robin format. Bowren said the festival aimed to give the U14 teams “match practice and to be able to play more than one game in a day”.
Teams taking part included DSG, Kingswood College (who had an A and B side), Collegiate Girls’ High School (Port Elizabeth), Pearson High School (PE), Stirling High School (East London) and Kingsridge High School (King William’s Town).
