The fourth annual Buco Junior Bass Classic took place at Settlers Dam recently. Over 30 juniors from all over the Eastern Cape arrived at the dam to try their luck.

Although the dam is very low at the moment, the young anglers were still able to launch their boats. The competition, which catered for boys and girls, was divided into three categories, U9, U13 and U18.

Fishing started at 8.30am and the weigh in took place at 1pm, at the main slipway at the dam.

A lot of bass were caught and the juniors had a lot of fun during the day.

The U9 section was won by William van Aarde, the U13 section was won by Morgan Lisher.

The U18 winner was Liam Taljaard.

The Albany Angling Association thanked their sponsors, whose donations helped put the event together. Quentin du Preez of the Albany Angling Club said the committee is already planning the 5th Buco Junior Bass Classic which they say will be bigger and better.
