A 21-year-old man is due to appear in court today on a charge of murder, after police found the body of his elderly relative in her Grahamstown home in the early hours of Saturday.
Spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said the police were called out shortly after Friday midnight to a house in Hlalani, where they found the front door open and a woman lying on the floor, face down in a pool of blood. She had an open wound on her upper body and a man identified as a relative of the 70-year-old woman was arrested.
“The motive for the murder is unknown,” Govender said.
The 21-year-old man was due to appear in the Magistrate’s Court today.
