Two men fled with an undisclosed amount of money after robbing a local clothing store in High Street last week on Tuesday 22 March.
Grahamstown Crime Intelligence Officer Captain Milanda Coetzer said the two armed men entered Choice Clothing shortly before 9am. She said the men, both between the ages of 20 and 25, were wearing black. They held one staff member at gunpoint, Coetzer said.
“One man approached an employee, threatened her at gunpoint and the other one took the cash,” she said. Police said the perpetrators were still at large and that they are looking for information.
“No one has been arrested and Grahamstown SAPS is requesting assistance from the public in the identification, tracing and arresting of these men,” said Coetzer.
Several attempts to get comment from the store and from Choice Clothing head office were unsuccessful at the time of going to print.
This hold-up follows a similar incident last month, when the Grahamstown Post Office in High Street was robbed by four men who held customers and staff at gun point.
This also took place during daylight hours. In 2014 the High Street Post Office was also robbed during daytime and dozens of government project workers were left without their monthly wages.
In September last year, a man entered the premises of Pronto Driving School and demanded cash from the receptionist at gunpoint. No one was injured in any of these incidents.
