In April Jackson auditioned for the National Youth Orchestras for musicians up to the age of 25 and she went through an intensive course in Pretoria and put through further auditions.
She found it to be a wonderful and technically demanding experience, playing music together with some of the country’s most talented young musicians.
Jackson’s memorable moment was when she had rehearsals with Stefan Solyom, a distinguished conductor from Sweden, who combined first class musicianship with glorious humour.
There’s more to come
Jackson’s 10 days experience culminated in two concerts at Wits University and one at Pretoria University.

Neither the players nor the audience will easily forget the performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade.
In September they will be playing in KwaZulu-Natal, and in December there will be a tour outside the country to a destination as yet undisclosed.
