The Department of Arts and Culture is now accepting applications for the Mzansi Golden Economy Strategy (MGE), a new programmed designed to enhance, arts, culture and heritage in South Africa.
Applications and proposals are being accepted for possible financial support and partnership with the department in three programmes: Cultural Events, Touring Ventures and Public Art. There is no deadline, but the department has said that no urgent applications will be accepted.
The MGE is a new programme that "aims to enhance economic development and social cohesion for the country", according to a department media release. Its objectives are: stimulate demand, audience development and consumption, building heritage resources, information gathering, human capital development and developing cultural entrepreneurs.
