Their new CD will be recorded this coming Saturday at the Cathedral.
"The CD will only be ready in October and it will have all the songs that we will be performing this Friday at the concert," said Andrew-John Bethke, the choir director.
He told Grocott's Mail that the programme for Friday's concert will include new material that the choir has been working on from the beginning of the year.
This new material was composed by local composer Andrew Tracey, a retired Rhodes University music professor and Bethke.
"A mixture of great English music from all over the world and from British Cathedrals" will be part of the programme, said Bethke.
The choir was first started seven years ago and had only four choristers. It has now grown to a membership of over 40 people, including 32 pupils from Victoria Girls High School, Victoria Primary School and Graeme college.
The 16 adult members of the group are worshippers at the Cathedral. Bethke says that the pupils receive a small scholarship from the cathedral choir which helps towards their school fees.
Since they come from different churches "they are only required to come twice a month, twice for the morning service and twice for the evening services,” he said.
