Guests at the White House B&B in Grahamstown were "shocked but fine" after the house next door was razed in a blaze around midnight on Friday 11 April.
Grocott's Mail spoke to the owner of the upmarket guest house Jolandi Zacharellis on Saturday morning, who said guests – most of them in town for graduation – were enjoying a late breakfast after the disruption.
She said no one was at home when the house caught fire and no one was injured.
Owner of the burnt house Anna Zacharellis, Jolandi's sister-in-law said she was at work at the time. She owns the Victoria Hotel in New Street and Gino's Restaurant in the Victoria Hotel complex.
"Someone called me and said 'Your roof's on fire. I rushed there in my car and the fire brigade were already there.
"They did a great job but the fire took so quickly," she said.
Anna said no one was injured in the blaze.
