It has also been reported that the list currently being used might be abandoned in favour of an earlier version.
Nevertheless, residents who have already taken possession of new RDP houses have expressed their joy with their new situation.
"I am very happy to have a house. I feel freed from difficulties of not having a place to stay. I have got a house late in my life, but finally I have my own place. I had given-up already on getting a house but I was rewarded at last, so we are very thankful", said Nomhle Faxi.
"We moved in on Sunday. We are from a farm so for us to have a house is a great. We are used to not having electricity but because we are in the township we would like to have it," added Nomfuneko Bill.
"I am happy that I have a house of my own and have all my children in one place, it is better than being spread around", concluded Bill.
The three-roomed houses have running water, two sinks and proper ceilings.
"There are not many complaints as yet but I have problems with my house. I have a broken asbestos and a faulty door," said Don Bokoyi. "I can tell that sooner or later these will cause problems, therefore I reported them as quickly as possible. But overall having a house is very relieving."
"We are very grateful. Now we even sleep peacefully because we sleep in our own home, but we are still worried about the criminals," said Thenjiwe Khohlwana.
