A fire that had been raging all day was spotted burning just past the Mayfield cemetery on Saturday 21 September.
By 3pm on Sunday 22 September, an eyewitness says it had flared up again and spread to about 2km from Makana Brick in Grahamstown North.
According to the eyewitness, fire fighters on the scene were considering starting another fire so that the two would burn into each other and put themselves out.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
