This year, nine entrepreneurs from The Hope Factory in Port Elizabeth will be displaying their creative talents at the Village Green.
The Hope Factory is an established Enterprise Development organisation associated with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
It mentors and trains potential black entrepreneurs to develop life and business skills.
It is supporting these small businesses through covering the cost of six stalls at the Village Green Fair.
“The National Arts Festival is a great platform for our entrepreneurs to access the wide market that is readily available at the festival," said Nomaxabiso Klaas, Senior Executive at The Hope Factory.
"We are sending a number of entrepreneurs for the 10 days who have relevant products to sell," she explained. "These include leather work, funky and traditional clothing, jewellery, and a food stall.”
Through The Hope Factory’s programme, these nine entrepreneurs have been exposed to mentoring and product development sessions to help them prepare to sell their handmade items at the festival.
“It is thrilling to be given the chance to go and sell our products at the Village Green Fair," said designer and The Hope Factory entrepreneur, Nomahlubi Mashiya.
"This will help us to get a real feel of who the festival goers and the people who buy our products are."
The Village Green Fair will be open from 9am to 5pm daily.
