Sixteen Days of Activism against gender-based violence will be commemorated during the annual Goldrush Fabian Juries Community Fun Day this year.

The annual tournament, in its 11th edition of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday, 30 November 2024. The annual event will be hosted in the township this year, with rugby matches taking place at Miki Yili Stadium and netball matches at the Indoor Sports Centre.

The family fun day serves as a community sporting tournament organized by the Grahamstown Brumbies Rugby Club. It will feature eight rugby teams and eight netball teams, namely the Curry Park Rangers, Joza Kings/Queens, Tantyi Rangers, Scott’s Farm Cellotape, Hoogenoeg White Bulls, Vergenoeg Eagles, Fingo Villagers, and Ghost Town Lions, competing for a trophy, medals, and a cash prize designated for a selected non-profit organization.

President of the Grahamstown Brumbies, Deon Hilpert, said they aimed for the event to make a difference that the organization hopes to promote the 16 Days of Activism during the event.

All participating teams have engaged in fundraising efforts through the primary tournament sponsor, Goldrush, which will provide the teams with their kits. Additionally, food and beverages, including water and energy drinks, will be supplied by other sponsors, and security will be enhanced through the involvement of the South African Police Service, with emergency services on standby.
