The past weekend was another busy one for the cricket club, with matches in Cape Town for the Junior Colts A, and the rest of the club playing various fixtures against Woodridge and Grey High School.

The 1st XI struggled in their fixture against Woodridge, losing the toss and being put into bat on a wicket that was always going to be difficult early on after the heavy rains. Early wickets, and consistent pressure being applied by Woodridge, meant that the College batsmen never had time to settle. Despite the best efforts of Myles Sansom (30) and Oliver Johns (27), the College side was bowled out for 107.

Woodridge came out aggressively, and early wickets were needed, which did not happen. Tom Bussiahn managed to pull things back with a good spell but defending 107 was always going to be a challenging ask. Woodridge eventually achieved the total 4 down, winning by 6 wickets.

The Junior Colts A side can be satisfied with their results on their whirlwind tour to Cape Town, beating Paarl Gimnasium and Wynberg Boys High School, and going down in competitive games against SACS and Bishops. Callum Taggart was the best batsman on the tour, putting together three impressive innings. Aidan Marriott was the standout bowler, taking several crucial wickets as well as being economical with his leg-spin.

The standout game of the weekend was the Colts B game against the Woodridge Colts A team. Both teams scored 171 all out, but it was Woodridge who eventually got over the line in a super over!
