Many of us suffer from low self-esteem, we lack confidence, and self-love so this article may be helpful to you if you struggle from any of the above.

We all have issues with self-esteem from time to time, but it can cause mental health problems, conflict in our relationships, and impact our daily lives if we have chronic low self-esteem.

When our self-esteem is low we are usually surrounded with negative thoughts and opinions about ourselves. We tend to be highly critical and mistreat ourselves.

Low self-esteem and lack in confidence can occur due to parents, siblings, friends, and the media sending us negative messages about ourselves and this can make us feel like we are not good enough.

Helpful tips to increase self-esteem, confidence, and self-love:

  • Challenge your negative beliefs
  • Write in a journal
  • Reframe your thoughts from negative to positive
  • Write down the things you are good at
  • Build relationships with people who are positive and compliment you
  • Be kind to yourself and quieten the self-critical side of you
  • Compliment others and be assertive
  • Start saying “no” to things you do not want to do and set boundaries
  • Challenge yourself and try new things
  • Understand that there is no such thing as perfection
  • Society usually offers unrealistic standards
  • Live in the present moment and be grateful for the day at hand
  • Give up control and understand you cannot control everything
  • Check in with yourself emotionally and take a “me” day if you need to
  • Cut out negative people
  • Eat healthily
  • Move and exercise, as this boosts self-esteem
  • Clean up your environment and keep your space tidy
  • Forgive yourself for past mistakes
  • Meditate and take deep breaths regularly
  • Do more public speaking
  • Love your body as it is in the present moment
  • Be creative
  • Get enough sleep
  • Do something you are passionate about
  • Understand that you do not need approval from others
  • Take breaks from social media

Remember self-love is a journey and will not just happen instantly. It requires practice and commitment. Contact your local health coach today if you struggle with low self-esteem and need guidance on how to do this – revivewithshan@gmail.com
