Where do you read Grocott’s?

Social media has shifted the way we engage with news and other forms of content. Through social media platforms such as Facebook, we read, listen, or watch about the world around us, we react to content, we share content, and sometimes we comment on posts. We can engage ‘live’ with news sources, with audiences, and with other people who are also online with us.

Our approach at Grocott’s Mail with our main Facebook page has been to share a snippet of the story with you, and sometimes a little more than that – especially if the story has valuable information or is a call to action to support a cause. We then link to the main story on our website where you can go read the full story in your own time if you would like to.

Other media platforms have been doing similar things, some only provide a sentence or two to hook you into going to their main website or app while others give the whole story. We would like to know whether you want only a snippet, a crafted social media post with a link out to the story, or the full story?

Over the last two or so months, we have seen increased engagement on our main Facebook page. We also recently saw a slight dip in traffic to our website: www.grocotts.co.za

This has led to many conversations about where we should be meeting our readers – you, the Makhandan community. To fully make such a decision, we need to include you in this conversation. Over the next few weeks we invite you let us know which platform works best for you, be that the weekly newsletter you receive from us, our website, Facebook, WhatsApp, or any other spaces you may be getting your dose of Grocott’s from.

Facebook is a useful platform for many because it houses several of their interests – groups, pages, friends, family, and so on. By following Grocott’s Mail on Facebook, the news comes to you in the space you’re in: https://www.facebook.com/grocotts

But not everyone is on Facebook, and so if you would prefer to receive your news from us via email, you can subscribe here to receive a weekly edition every Friday morning: https://grocotts.us15.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=73a2471644fe64002cd0e8b19&id=eac0b18fd2

Or if you don’t check your email all that often or prefer your news on your phone, you can join the GMDirect WhatsApp group to receive the weekly edition sent out on Friday mornings here: http://bit.ly/GMDirectWA

We would like to hear from you where you read Grocott’s Mail from. If you have a moment to help us collect this information, you can click on this link to take a concise and anonymous survey which will help us respond better to your needs: https://forms.gle/k9HCSbe9xMeaENVy6

You can also email us community@grocotts.co.za if you would prefer to write a more extended response.
