    Khorona ndiyayoyika!

    The poet is talking about the corona virus which is currently killing many in China. The virus is believed to spread rapidly from country to country but the imbongi is telling it to leave South Africans/Africans alone – especially the residents of Makhanda – as they are still busy trying to fix their challenges.

    Nihlabe nikhangele mawethu

    Mabandlandini kaNtu nivile na?
    Niwabambile na amakhadi?
    Kungenjalo oosivile banixelele na?
    Nivile na ngale rhorgo yase zintlangeni?
    Niyibonile na imisebenzi yale rhorho yase mazweni?
    Ugilikankqo werhorho
    Ochwechwela eli lizwe

    Yikhorona igama layo
    Ungandibuzi izelwe ngubani sele inegama nje
    Bath’ingu mkhuhlan’otyhutyhayo
    Oshiya uthotho lwezigede zezidumbu ngasemva

    Khorona rhorho yobubi
    Ungumdali weenkedama
    Imizi eshishina ngamachiz’ezempilo ixakiwe
    Ifunana nesitya ebumnyameni
    Kub’uthath’amakhul’avisayo ngosuku.

    Khorona siyeke thina sizihlalele
    Sinemiceli mingeni emininzi
    Kuba siyaz’uzulela thina
    Sibe zizigculelo zakho

    Thina bamilomo yomileyo kukudinga isonka

    Hamba Khorona uye eMelika!
    Hamba khorona uye eNgilane!
    Hamba khorona siyakuchila
    Sikuchilela kwelama Jamani
    Kwizizwe ezifumileyo ngempokotho
    Zona ziya kubanakh’ukumelana nawe

    Okungenani ke eMakhanda sixakekile,
    Sixakekiswe yile micimbi yokungabi nankokheli ebhungeni
    Sikuve ke ugxidika kuthi
    Asikuceli siya kugunyazisa.
