The Eastern Province Rugby Union (EPRU) Sedru Regional League is set for an exciting and dramatic finish this weekend when the competition draws to an end.  This will be a tense weekend for both Old Collegians (OC) and Lily White (Blues), who are currently the front runners and log leaders.

OC are back on top of the log after Lily White and Eastern played to a 17-17 draw last week at the Miki Yili Stadium. The last round of matches this coming weekend will determine who will be crowned champs and be declared as the Sedru league winners. Lily White were the log leaders before last week’s fixture.

Collegians are now in first position with 60 log points and Lily White in second place with 58. Lily White will face the struggling Wanderers this weekend at the Oval and a must-win result will see them winning the league. OC will be off this weekend and can only watch and wait for this weekend’s results to know their fate.

Eastern vs Lily White

Lily White and Eastern played to a dramatic 17-17 draw in their league encounter at Mickey Yili Stadium. The match was scrappy and tense and spoiled by poor discipline, with two red cards and three yellow cards issued. The teams scored three tries apiece.

Eastern’s bigger forwards laid the foundation up front and put log leaders Blues under severe pressure. The Blues became frustrated and ill-discipline came to the fore; however, using their speedy backline, they scored points.

Mncedisi Yona scored two tries for Blues while Athenkosi Dyokomba also dotted down.

Lily Whites manager Zolile Makile said the game was tough but the vibe was not good.

Klipfontein United vs Wanderers

Klipfontein received soft points (28-0) against Wanderers, who didn’t pitch for their match in Klipfontein.

The latest Sedru League Log:
1. OC – 60
2. Lily White – 58
3. Kowie United – 47
4. Eastern – 35
5. Klipfontein – 32
