The Brumbies 1st XV rugby team was took part in a warm-up match against Easterns on Saturday 7 April. The curtain-raiser was scheduled to be the Brumbies 1st reserve team vs Winter Rose, however, the aways side failed to pitch without explanation. This did not deter the 1st team, however, as they were set for their final warm-up match before the start of the Eastern Province Rugby Union (EPRU) Grand Challenge cup on Saturday 14 April.

The Brumbies worked exceptionally hard to make sure that they gained the upper hand, however Easterns showed remarkably good counter-attacking skills from the get go. The Easterns team maanaged to break through a number of gaps left in some of the sloppy defense of the Brumbies early on. As the clock kept ticking, the crowd witnessed the growth and union within the Brumbies team

The home side started to show off more of their impressive ball handling skills and their abilities to focus on playing a more structured game. These efforts resulted in several tries which were well executed by Chadwill Jegels, Duane Brown, Jannie du Toit, Quinn-lee Quiens, Shanton Shash Whitebooi and Steward Morris while Duane Brown only managed to secure 3 successful conversion points. Monray Evans and new comer, Robert Smith, were highlighted to be the most profound in crossing the advantage line with ease.

After the final whistle, the Brumbies ran out massive 41-17 victors over the visitors, giving them a major confidence boost ahead of the start of the season. An exquisite performance from the guys raised the standards for the local spectators who hope to see the Brumbies continue with the same positivity.
