Five babies were born at Settlers Hospital on New Year’s Day. Grocott’s Mail caught up with some of the little ones and their moms to celebrate new life, and a new year.

New Year moms with their babies at Settlers Hospital are (left to right) Anesipho Fanki (a little girl, the first New Year baby at 1.05am), Thozama Gxekwa (a girl, 9.10am) and Xolelwa Mfecane (a girl, 8.03pm). Photo: Sue Maclennan
