Police have asked the public to come forward with information following the kidnapping of a 25-year-old woman in Peddie, who was Saturday 14 January found murdered in Tyefu, near Glenmore in the Fish River valley.

Police have asked the public to come forward with information following the kidnapping of a 25-year-old woman in Peddie, who was Saturday 14 January found murdered in Tyefu, near Glenmore in the Fish River valley.

An intensive search began after a distraught man reported to Peddie police that he'd parked outside the magistrate's court in Peddie on Friday 13 January. He'd left the car keys and his cellphone with his wife, who'd opted to remain in the car.

When he returned to the place he'd parked his car, his car was gone and his wife with it, police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said.

The search continued this morning and the vehicle was located at the Qamnyana Administration Area in the Tyefu Policing Area, Govender said.

When police searched the area where the car was found, the woman's body was found nearby.
Specialist investigators worked on the scene for several hours collecting evidence and clues and a post mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Detectives of Peddie and Tyefu are investigating cases of theft of motor vehicle, kidnapping and murder.
An appeal is made to any person who will be able to assist in.the investigation to contact the crime stop number on 08600 10111. All information supplied is strictly confidential and the caller has a choice to remain anonymous.

Brigadier David Kanuka, the Cluster Commander of Grahamstown,  who guided  the search team since the report, expressed his sincere condolences to the family and friends of the slain victim and assured the community that he will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to book.

"I have a team of experienced detectives working on these cases which I'm also closely monitoring," he said. He appealed to the community to assist the SAPS in their investigations.
