Grahamstown commuters should prepare to walk to work tomorrow as taxi drivers are reportedly planning a protest.

Grahamstown commuters should prepare to walk to work tomorrow as taxi drivers are reportedly planning a protest.

However, taxi owners have distanced themselves from the planned action.

Grahamstown taxi owners this evening, Thursday 10 November, met to discuss the protest.

"The action is apparently planned by our drivers and we have made it clear that we are not supporting it.

We as taxi owners are not part of that and we want everything to be normal tomorrow.

"They are allegedly complaining of poor roads and also a Quantum that belongs to the municipality that is going around transporting people," said a taxi owner who wanted to remain anonymous.

A Grahamstown Uncedo Service Taxi Association official who also wanted to remain anonymous, said he had heard of planned action for tomorrow but had no details.
