Grahamstown parkrun celebrates its second year anniversary this Saturday with the event falling on Heritage Day.
Organisers are going with the Heritage theme and are encouraging parkrunners to dress up.
“Why not wear something traditional, or something with colours from our national flag? You'll even be welcomed if you dye your hair or get a face paint job with those colours!” said parkrun member Peter Wentworth.
For the birthday celebration on Saturday, there will be special treats and prizes. “Bring the family, try it out.” Join in before 8am at the Lucas Avenue entrance to Botanical Gardens, just below the Provost Coffee Shop.
Grahamstown parkrun takes place every Saturday at 8am. It is open to everyone and suitable for all levels of fitness.
It is a 5km fun run/walk around our spectacular Botanical Gardens. Dogs are welcome too, but must be on a leash.
Once you register, (registration and weekly runs/walks are completely free), you can partake in any park run anywhere in the world. Visit http://www.parkrun.co.za/grahamstown/ to sign up.
You'll be able to print your personalised "parkrun athlete barcode" – bring this along so that you'll get an official time and email.
But even if you're not registered, you can still come along at the last minute and join in. (No barcode, no official result, that's all!)
