    A Bathurst couple between the ages of 60 and 70 were attacked just before midnight on Saturday 12 August.

    A Bathurst couple between the ages of 60 and 70 were attacked just before midnight on Saturday 12 August.

    Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender they were watching a movie when the incident happened.

    The couple said they heard dogs barking outside and the man went out to check.

    “He saw a suspect jumping over the gate. The victim retreated but the suspects pushed their way in and started their attack, demanding cash and firearms. The couple managed to free themselves from the attackers and went to get help,” said Govender.

     She said both victims sustained injuries and were being treated at a local hospital. Cellphones and cash were taken. 

    There have been no arrests but anyone with information has been asked to come forward.
