The Rhodes University Rifle Club is currently running the Rhodes University Rifle Club Grahamstown Open. It is a fund-raising event, hoping to raise enough money to buy PCP air rifles for the club.

James Connan, chairperson of the Rhodes University Rifle Club said the rifles will be used to “promote sport shooting on campus and also to allow schools to come shoot with us”.

The format of the event sees teams of four (R200 per team) compete (R50 into a pot).

The club will provide a rifle, bipod, scope and ammunition. Teams arrange a time to shoot a score and can enter as many times as they wish.

The top eight teams will be invited to the range at the end of October and have a shoot-out for the pot.
