Springbok full-back Willie Le Roux has been banned for one week following his late challenge on Irish counterpart Tiernan O'Halloran in the Port Elizabeth test on 25 June – after initially receiving only a yellow card.

Springbok full-back Willie Le Roux has been banned for one week following his late challenge on Irish counterpart Tiernan O'Halloran in the Port Elizabeth test on 25 June – after initially receiving only a yellow card.

Ireland will likely see this as justice served too late, after they lost CJ Stander to a red card in the first test after a similar tackle on Pat Lambie in the first test.

Le Roux will only miss one game: the clash between his franchise, the Sharks, and the Lions (2 July).

He was cited by James Absaloms of Kenya for breaching Law 10.4 (i) – which states that all aerial duels have to be fair contests and that both players must have a realistic chance of catching the ball.

Australian judicial officer Terry Willis heard the case on Sundayn (26 June) in Port Elizabeth heard the case and deemed the offence to have been minor – accepting the proposal of a one week ban Advocate Attie Heyns, who represented Le Roux.
